The much hyped Aston Martin AM-RB 003 hypercar which is the successor of the V-12 hybrid-powered Valkyrie, has followed the same nomenclature trend. According to the Norse God naming pattern adopted by the manufacturer, the new model will be named Valhalla, putting rest to all the rumours. This also follows Aston Martin’s tradition to name its cars with the letter “V”, a practice that dates back seven decades, starting with the Vantage in 1951.

The car was developed in association with Red Bull Advanced Technologies and comes with a premium range of features. The design brings it closer to the structure of a fighter jet along with a variable airfoil and high-exit exhausts. The NASA-level FlexFoil technology ensure that the car is able to adjust the downforce without altering the airfoil angle. This model provides a driving experience close to that of an F1 vehicle as a range of F1 technology has trickled down into its detail engineering aspects. The design is basically an extension of the Valkyrie and Ashton Martin wants to promote the car as an option for daily use.

The Aston Martin Valhalla was first revealed in March this year, at the Geneva Motor Show. It is supposed to be powered by a turbocharged V-6 unit along with a sophisticated hybrid system. The power output is being rumoured to be around the 1000 Horsepower mark. The carbon fibre structure includes an 8-speed F1-inspired dual-clutch transmission that will help in propelling the vehicle from 0-62 mph in 2.5 seconds, with the top speed being around 220 mph. A limited number of models, numbering around 500, will be placed under production and the car is projected to hit the roads by 2021.

Aston Martin has put focus on making the car more usable with doors that open out of the roof and additional space for luggage and storage.  The interiors feature the special ‘Apex Ergonomics’ where the major controls are aligned around the driver and his line of sight. It is also equipped with two digital screens, one for displaying vital information and other for entertainment. With the Ferrari SF90 Stradale and McLaren Speedtail being marked as its potential competitors, the Valhalla is expected to be priced around $1.2 million. No performance specifications have been officially announced at this stage and the possibility of a convertible model has also not been confirmed.

Marek Reichman, the Chief Creative Officer of Aston Martin has remarked that “If Valkyrie is the best of the best, then the [Valhalla] is the best at GBP 1 million”. He also mentioned that the concept car displayed in Geneva represents 90 percent of the final model. Anyone eager to catch a glimpse of the Aston Martin Valhalla in action, will be able to view it in the upcoming James Bond movie, “Bond 25”, with Daniel Craig in the lead.
